Weston Ball Field, located in Weston, NE, is perhaps best known for the monument behind the home plate bleachers honoring local baseball legend Bob Cerv, who was born and raised in the Weston area. Cerv (1925-2017), a one-time Major League Baseball All-Star (1958) and World Series Champion (1956), also attended and played baseball at the nearby University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The well-maintained Weston Ball Field features a grass infield, above-ground dugouts, a batting cage near the left field foul pole, and modern restrooms. Large, Stars and Stripes painted wooden "Ws" hang from the backs of each dugout and atop each side of the home plate backstop.
Weston Ball Field is home to generations of youth and amateur baseball and softball players. A sign and bulletin board sitting on the corner of Plum Street and Dump Road, honoring its local heroes, proudly announces that "State Champions Play Here."
